Journey Notebooks
Handcrafted leather notebooks, made to be lived with and to grow with their owner. Each notebook begins with a painting. The leather, elastic, and hardware are chosen to carry its colors into something you can hold.

The process
How they’re made
Made with full-grain vacchetta leather from the Badalassi Carlo tannery in Tuscany, cut and assembled by hand in South Carolina, and thoughtfully finished with natural ingredients like gum tragacanth and beeswax.

Cutting
The cover is cut from full-grain vacchetta leather from a tannery certified to use only natural raw materials and eco-friendly processes in the tanning process.

Burnishing
The flesh side is smoothed and sealed with gum tragacanth so the interior feels soft and clean. The edges are sanded, then burnished with carnauba wax to a mirror polish.

Hardware
Holes are punched for the elastic inserts and the closure, then set with metal grommets. They keep the leather from stretching or tearing as the notebook is used over the years.

Finishing
The outside is cleaned, conditioned, and polished to soften the leather and protect it from stains and dirt. Each cover is then stamped with the Keoni Studio makers mark.
